As a homebody, I’m burning a candle no matter the season. And while spring is a little bit awkward since it’s a transitional season, I’ve found that some candles are meant to be burned on warm, yet breezy days. I mainly aim for light florals, fruits, and herbs with added notes of smoke, wood, and musk — and these recent releases check all those boxes. So if you’re a candle lover too, and have a hard time figuring out what to burn right now, put the winter candles away and read on.

P.F. Candle Co.

P.F. Candle Co.’s Golden Coast candle…

This one is a classic that I’ve been burning since college, with notes of eucalyptus, sea salt, palo santo, and redwood. But what’s new about this one is the increased candle size and fragrance level so that the smell will permeate in larger spaces. The brand calls this the “Large Concentrated” version. ($36, P.F. Candle Co.)

Nest New York

Nest New York’s Sunlit Yuzu & Neroli candle…

In my eyes, you can never go wrong with a candle from Nest New York. I find that they always seem to do a citrus candle just right, and my usual favorite is their Grapefruit candle. If you also usually go for grapefruit scents, you’ll definitely be into their new Sunlit Yuzu & Neroli candle. In addition to the yuzu and neroli, it has notes of mandarin. Think: fruity and floral (but without being too intense). ($48, Nest New York)

Apotheke

Apotheke’s Charcoal Rouge candle…

This is the candle I’m currently burning that’s majorly worth talking about. Every time I burn it and have a guest over, the common sentiment is “What is that? Your place smells so good.” While this feels like enough to sell this candle to you, I’ll go deeper and call it a “cozy floral” with notes of smoke, red currant, rose, geranium, peony, burning birch, cedarwood, and vetiver. TLDR, it’s the best rose candle you’ll ever smell. I have the matching diffuser in my bathroom, too. ($44, Apotheke)

Birthdate Co.

A Birthdate Co.’s Tarot Trio…

If you or a friend has a birthday coming up, this is the set you need to buy. Each candle has a gold tarot card charm inside, which will allow you to give yourself a custom reading after you’ve burned through them all. The Past candle has notes of citrus and bergamot, the Present candle has notes of amber and rosewood, and the Future candle has notes of lemon and cardamom. ($85, Birthdate Co.)

Boy Smells

Boy Smells’ latest collab with Kacey Musgraves…

Slow Burn is one of my favorite candles of all time. When I found out that Boy Smells and Kacey Musgraves were launching another candle named after her new album, I knew I needed to try it. This is the ultimate relaxation candle and is the perfect scent for winding down after a long day. It’s smokey, sweet, and rich in earthy notes like oakmoss, raspberry, and sage. ($56, Boy Smells)

Anthropologie

A gardenia candle from Anthropologie…

I love Anthropologie candles because they’re priced well, they always smell good, and the vessels are usually so adorable that I want to reuse them in my space. This one smells like gardenia and is made of glass with a holographic effect. My favorite part: the initial motif with gold detailing. This is another option that’d make such a great gift. ($22.40, Anthropologie)

Glossier

Glossier’s Sandstone candle…

While the cult-favorite brand has had candles in both their You and Body Hero fragrances, they recently came out with one in the scent Sandstone. While the original scents are floral and peppery with mixes of musk and citrus, Sandstone is a classic fig and sandalwood candle. I personally love it for spring because it smells clean, refreshing, and is an apt change-up from florals. ($45, Glossier)

Target

A hidden gem of a candle from Target…

The two-toned ceramic jar feels luxe and design-forward — so much so that you would never be able to guess that this candle is $6.99. I love the smell of ginger and frankly, I don’t come across it enough in a candle. It’s spicy with a hint of citrus, which means it’s perfect for the kitchen or bathroom post Sunday Reset. It’s so good that it’s worth its own dedicated Target run. ($6.99+,Target)
