Skimm'd while making time for free cold brew

  QUOTE OF THE DAY

"I hate everyone" – Snooki, apparently, on "Jersey Shore Family Vacation." The gang's back and still partying like it's 2010.

ON ALERT

The Story

Yesterday, America's doctor issued the first public health advisory in over a decade.

Remind me.

Millions of Americans are addicted to opioids like OxyContin and fentanyl. More than a quarter million have died in the last decade. Last year, President Trump declared the opioid crisis a public health emergency. Now, the surgeon general is chiming in.

What's he saying?

That more Americans – especially family and friends of addicts – should start carrying naloxone, a drug that helps people overdosing breathe normally. He says this could reduce opioid deaths. More than 100 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose, often at home or in public places where bystanders could step in. If they had this drug.

The last time the surgeon general issued an advisory was in 2005, warning pregnant women not to drink alcohol.

REPEAT AFTER ME...

What people are talking about…

Park Geun-hye. Today, the former South Korean president was sentenced to 24 years in prison. This has to do with the major corruption scandal. In 2016, it came out that Park allegedly helped her close friend cheat companies out of tens of millions of dollars sometimes in exchange for political favors. Lawmakers voted to impeach Park. Last year, a high court in South Korea said 'agreed.' Now, Park was found guilty on charges that included bribery and abuse of power. She is expected to appeal the ruling.

What to say when you're the last one to find out a co-worker is leaving...

News to me. Yesterday, President Trump said he didn't know that his lawyer had paid porn star Stormy Daniels to stay quiet about an alleged affair with him. Earlier this year, Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen said he paid Daniels $130,000 out of his own pocket and had her sign an NDA. This happened right before the presidential election in 2016, raising some flags about whether it was an illegal campaign contribution. Now, Daniels is suing Trump, saying the NDA doesn't count since he didn't sign on the dotted line. Trump – who denies the affair – has been pretty mum about all this. Until last night, when he said he never knew about the payment, or where Cohen got the money in the first place.

What to say when your friend covers your movie ticket...

We'll settle up later. Yesterday, Target agreed to a $3.7 million settlement over a discrimination lawsuit. Job applicants and an advocacy group sued, saying Target's use of criminal background checks discriminated against black and Hispanic applicants. The suit says the company rejects people who've been convicted of crimes. And that this more often than not means rejecting minorities. Now Target is settling and agreeing to have experts take a look at its guidelines. Also yesterday, San Francisco reportedly sued Attorney General Jeff Sessions for getting rid of civil rights memos aimed at protecting minorities and the disabled. The memos did things like tell local govs how to accommodate disabled employees. Back in December, Sessions said these memos and a handful of others were either "inconsistent with existing law" or "outdated." Now SF is saying 'disagree.'

What to say when you hear you might be producing new brain cells later in life

We also might be able to grow food in space. Scientists in Antarctica just reportedly harvested their first crop of veggies grown without daylight or soil. Yup. They've been experimenting with growing things like radishes, cucumbers, and lettuce in a greenhouse there. It's all part of a project to help figure out how astronauts could grow food in not-so-friendly climates. Read: Mars and the moon. Matt Damon, do you copy?

What to say when you're thirsty…

How about an Arnold Palmer? Yesterday, the Masters kicked off. Reigning champ Sergio Garcia forgot he knew how to golf. Tiger Woods remembered. Sort of. And everyone's talking about American Tony Finau, who dislocated his ankle earlier this week and still managed to end Day 1 near the top of the board. Tee-riffic.

What to say to your friend who always ran for student gov…

There's a record number of women running for Congress.

What if I miss the deadline?

If you think you can't file by April 17, file for an extension ASAP.

Do I get a refund?

Depends. Some people owe money to the gov and not the other way around.

When will I get it if I do?

After the gov sees your forms in its inbox, the IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days. Want it sooner? Choose direct deposit.

- Find out more about your refund and tips for when it hits your account.

- Are your taxes done yet? If so, you deserve a drink. Cheers.

- If you haven't finished your taxes yet, you should probably get to it...*
