Who: The London 2012 Olympics

What: For the first time, every country that sent a delegation had at least one female athlete

Why: The Olympics said ‘seriously, take the hint’ and urged countries to send women to the games. Saudi Arabia, a country where women’s rights are very limited, sent two female athletes. And, the US had more female athletes than male ones.
